They recently changed the terms of pregnancy. 39+ is now considered full term due to development happening until about 30-40 weeks. Most older doctors just chose to continue to go by the old terms though or are unaware of the change.

@princesssskxo, yeah that's why. It is confusing when all the doctors aren't on the same page & they just changed it like a few years ago.

I know it was 37 weeks 4 years ago but it changed to 39. Now a days my daughter would have been considered early term being born at 38 weeks but back then they were ready to induce me saying I was full term and they wanted her out (I had IUGR)

Idk what OB considered that full term. I mean I know OBs make a big deal because that's when you start seeing them once a week and they tell you to keep an eye out because of baby comes they won't try to delay labor but I've never in my life heard of a doctor saying 36 weeks is full term 😩😩😩

@princesssskxo, but yeah it is confusing! I had Z at exactly 39 weeks!

The hospital where I live won't deliver unless you're 37 weeks cuz that's what they consider full term and that's what the are medically equipped for so if possible they ship you to a different town if you're earlier then 37 weeks
