IV pain meds vs. epidural has anyone had both? (for seperate pregnancies or was given both) which…

I did both fire my first and honestly pain meds after given twice stop working and they didn't do much. epidural I'll never get one of those again I had to many complications after

I had both with my first and then my 2nd and 3rd I had an innertheical and an epidural. Definitely preferred the innertheical vs the epidural however they are done the same.

i did both with my second baby they gave me fentaynol (spell check lol) and that really didnt help with the pain it made me giggly and dizzy kinda more just to help take the edge off....... i had 2 epidurals and never had problems except when getting the second one my doctor hit a nerve that made my leg hurt for a second but other then that it went fine no sore back after or nothing

I had both. The IV meds were more for relief to hold me over until I could get the epidural and not have it wear off...it wore off anyway bc the anesthesiologist didn't do it right and the IV meds lasted almost all the way through pushing lol. I don't think they were supposed to.

I had both. The morphine made me puke if I ate at all, which happens to a lot of people. The epidural was great until my son started getting lazy. They were flipping me every half hour and the epidural would pool on the side I was laying on and I would get contractions on the other side.

thanks for the replies ladies! this definitely helps with decision making. i guess I'll have to see how badly it hurts when the time comes, that'll end up making the ultimate decision. haha
