I swear my 6 year old brother is going to be the only one that can't read in first grade because my parents let him on the iPad and Xbox 24/7 !! And when they do "try" to have him read and do his sentences and words they get frustrated and so does he because he doesn't know and just wants to be on the iPad so they just send him away or yell at him.
Yes I understand it's frustrating but whose to blame? Yourself because you don't have the patience to try and help him.
Now I'm hear trying to help him and he crying because he doesn't know the words it's heartbreaking and hard because he gives up so fast and won't try after 1 minute. He starts first grade on aug 22

Ugh this is so hard because all he cares about is this damn iPad or getting a surprise or present. "What happens next do I get surprised do I get my iPad back" I'm trying to stay calm but lord it's hard 😫😔

honestly even though u think the iPad is a problem it may be the solution. get some reading games. have him play those for 30 mins, then whatever he wants for 30 mins. that way he gets a break, and he is using a familiar tool

@kaylajay, the thing is he won't I have downloaded him tons of learning games. He is stuck on YouTube and watching these ridiculous videos. I'll have him watch learning videos but then he throws a fit. I just want to see him succeed

he doesn't get to play his other games if he doesn't play the learning games

Get raz kids, it's really good with helping to read better. They pick books (from levels a-z) and they can read them or have it read to them and they get stars for each one and can buy stuff with the stars. It really helped my son
