@eskawho, I've seen girls coming in MUCH earlier than that? if it doesn't come in till a few days later do you just give formula?

milk doesnt come in until 2-5 days after baby is born.. you will produce colostrum for the baby to feed on for the first few days if you chose to breastfeed.

no, they feed on colostrum which is what you might leak before baby is born but not all do. I didn't...it's thinker then milk and that should be plenty.

i know how to latch him we jusy didnt for the first 2 days because of a couple issues w him he wouldnt eat & eventually they pumped his belly ans we had to do formula until he got enough in him to make up for the days he didnt eat & now he can bf thank the lord @giftoflife_bethany

Milk typically doesn't come in until 2-4 days after giving birth. The baby survives off of colostrum which is the yellowish stuff your breasts produce until the milk comes in. They do just fine on it. Remember the babies' stomach is teeny tiny so they are fine even if your milk takes 5 or 6 days after birth. The only time you would need to formula feed is if your baby just cannot latch at all. Most women and their babies can get the latch down, even if it takes a few days. :)
