@nikki993, I had the swabs and tested positive for early labour! Luckily it stopped for me. It's horrible and they will have to give two steroid injections into your bum cheeks to strengthen babies lungs incase he/she is born early, loads of urine samples will be taken and same with blood! I was on the monitor for bloody ages aswell but thank god nothing came from it, I was only 27 weeks 😳 good luck Hun, your in the right place incase anything does happen!xx
Hopefully things settle down for u and the uti gets sorted. They can work wonders with stopping things now and each passing day/week u can cook the baby the better. I know what it's like being stuck in hospital I was in 12 weeks with my first. It sucks. Rest up and keep us posted
@suzie80, I haven't had sex in over a month plus I have been in hospital since Friday afternoon I did have a speculum to have the swabs done but there was only water used to lube it up as I would say .. But cervix is closed and long atm I have been having mild contractions on and off for past week .. I have a uti that's why I'm in hospital anyway then this started to really kick off at around 5 this morning .. I've had one dose of steroids to merture baby's lungs just incase she does come .. And on Deliverysuite agen ..
I take it your swab u had was positive for signs of pre term labour? Whilst it can be accurate and show the break down of proteins associated with changes in the body and around the sack showing its coming away, however many things can make this test a false positive such as having a speculum exam prior to the swab, having semen present or recently had sex and sometimes this swab just shows false positive and many continue to term. It can also show negative and someone deliver a few days later too. So unless your regularly contracting or waters broken, keep positive. These tests can later be repeated and show negative. I've had a far few myself and seen a few girls be told they would deliver and they still went to term or over. Good luck
