Yes go in and arrange to talk to someone, explain the situation then you'll have to fill in forms etc. I got refused at first but I appealed because I knew it wasn't fair and I now get around £50 a week. It's hardly anything to live off but it's better than nothing, you might get more though. x

I wasn't living with my partner but with your first child you can get a sure start grant of 190 pounds ask your midwife about it and I'm not sure if they still do them but job center they used to do a 500 pound grant for first child to help u get pram and cot and things but that might go on how much ur partner earns and what benifits ur entitled to. x

If u put sure start maternity grant in Google it should come up on gov.uk website and I think u can fill something in to see if u qualifie or not hun x
