I posted this on my page a few days ago "August 1st, around 8pm they inserted a gel that thins and helps my cervix get ready for labor. I contracted ALL night, 1-3 minutes apart! Then in the morning, August 2nd, they checked me and I was a 2 and a half. They decided to do another gel hoping that would really get things going before they started pitocin. They inserted it at I wanna say 8am, which made my contractions 10x worse then the night before! I could barley handle them! They checked me around 11 and I was a 3 and a half. So they started pitocin around 12, and I was a 4. I decided to get the epidural while I was getting the pitocin because I knew it was going to make my contractions even worse and I couldn't handle that. The epidural honestly didn't hurt! It was just weird and uncomfortable. They were going to break my water at 2 pm but I felt it trickle around 1:30 by itself, so they decided to wait a little while hoping after my water broke that I would dilate more. Around 4, they checked me and I was still a 4 and she felt my water bag still kinda intact, I guess it was just leaking, it didn't break completely. So she broke it with her fingers and instantly I went to a 4 and a half. Then they decided once again to see if that would help me dilate, they checked again around 5 something and I was a 5. Then around 6 something, she checked me again and laughed and said "you're ready to have a baby" I went from a 4 to 10 in 2 hours! She let baby slowly come down on his own before I started pushing, and around 7:10 I started pushing, but couldn't feel anything at all (thank god for that epidural) the dr said she knew I would tear so she was going to give me an episiotomy so it would go faster. I could feel his head coming out with my hand, it was so freaky! Almost an hour of pushing and he came out at 8:02 I didn't even push him out, my last few contractions did that for me since he was so close! His cord was around his neck and he was grunting instead of crying so they had to give him an oxygen mask, and if it continued he'd go to NICU but he started crying and breathing fine 3 minutes later! I bawled like a baby hearing him cry! We did skin on skin for two hours. A couple hours ago the epidural wore off and now I can feel everything, the stitches, tear, my stomach feels weird from being all empty and working so hard. But it was all worth it to have this little man in my arms"
Wow!!!! @bentleysmomma that's amazing!! It sounds like things went extremely smooth and perfect!! ❤️ so glad you didn't have issues. I'll be induced Wednesday when I'm 40 weeks. But my baby has measured a week ahead the whole pregnancy. And from my last period, and when I conceived, I'll be 41 weeks when I'm induced. My boyfriends family is giving me a hard time about being induced and not letting nature take its course. However, I'm only 1cm dilated and 50% effaced... I had my membranes stripped and nothing happened. I go Monday to try again... But I just simply don't feel comfortable going over if I'm already going to be measuring a week ahead.
I got induced when I was 40+4. My son was measuring 2 weeks ahead. I had Braxton hicks since 28 weeks but no real contractions. I didn't get checked till 39+5 and I was 2 cm. that was a Wednesday. Friday was my due date so we went back in on Friday for a stress test. Everything came back fine. We went back in on Monday to talk to the dr who would be in call on Tuesday. They didn't want me to go past Wednesday. On Friday my baby was estimated to weigh 8lbs 6 oz but I had a lot of fluid which makes the baby appear bigger. So Tuesday morning we check in and got started. I was 2 cm so we went straight for pitocin. Increasing every 30 min. They broke my water maybe an hour in. So much came out it was crazy. Like gushing and gushing for a while. And with each contraction it gushed out. So much gushing. I would laugh and my husband would laugh and I would laugh more and it would gush more. It was too funny. I was progressing good. I made it to 5 cm before asking for the epidural but really the contractions weren't that bad. My dr was surprised at how well I was handling them. I really just wanted to get it over with before they got really bad. Getting it done wasn't as bad as I had expected it to be. Here's when then fun starts. So since I had an excess of amniotic fluid and they give you more fluid when they do the epidural my heart started to malfunction (I have mitro valve prolapse. I have had any symptoms in close to 20 years so I had forgotten about it). So I couldn't sit up or lay on my back because I would get dizzy and throw up so I could only lay on one side. Also the baby wasn't dropping in to position at all. I had also been bleeding a tiny bit but all day long. My placenta had ruptured a tiny bit. Around 7cm I got stuck and he wasn't dropping at all and since I couldn't get up gravity couldn't help. After 11 hours the dr gave me 2 options. One to give me some meds to increase my heart rate so I could try to sit up but I know myself and increasing my heart rate does not go over well. The other option was to have a c section before things got too crazy. She said that if I was younger and planning on having more levels kids she would have let me go longer but I'm 38 and really only wanted 1 baby. So we went for the c section. Since we went before anyone was in distress the c section went smoothly. My son ended up being 9lbs 13oz. Way bigger than anticipated. The dr was shocked. No wonder he wouldn't drop in. He was huge. He came out screaming and I started balling immediately. Like ugly crying. The dr kept telling me "where were you hiding this kid? He's huge!!" So after they stocked me up and took me to recovery they gave me demoral for the pain and I started falling asleep but every time I would my oxygen would drop so they kept waking me up to take deep breaths. They kept me in recovery for 6 hours. I never got skin to skin time with me son. I did get to latch him on but I have no recollection of it. They kept my son in the nursery that night. I finally got to my room at about 3am. At 6 am they came to check on me and I insisted that they bring him so I could get him to latch on and they did and he did. After that they took me to do a bunch of test to see what was going on with my heart. I was injected with contrast solution and after that I couldn't latch him on for 24 hours. I had to pump and dump. After that I was on oxygen for a total of 48hours. I got him to latch a couple times but it never worked out for us. C section recovery was not fun but I was back at work 4 weeks after. And that's why I became an exclusive pumper.
I would say don't be scared to be induced. I was one of 5 friends that got induced in the past year and I was the only one who had a c section. I was also the only one with a baby over 8lbs. Don't be afraid to go with the flow. And remember to breath. Do what's best for your baby. Do skin to skin and latch on as much and as soon as possible. It took me over 5 days for my milk to come in since my body was so stressed and because he got bottles so much he didn't want to work for it. We're both happy and healthy now.

My induction wasn't planned but at 39+1 I noticed my water leaking around 1 a.m. I wasn't positive if it was my water leaking so I changed and went back to bed. At 3 a.m. I woke up and my underwear was soaked again. I waited until 4:00 after changing again and it still seemed to leak a little bit when I would go from a laying position to a standing position. I called L&D because my hospital was a little over an hour and a half away and they recommended I come in but to take my time. I showered and ate and got all of our things together and woke my husband up. We went to the hospital (I wasn't dilated at all) but they tested the fluid that was leaking out with something like a q tip (that hurt like hell!!) and it came back positive for amniotic fluid. My doctor had me put on high levels of pitocin to get my contractions going and very strong so that I would dilate. I went almost 5 hours unmedicated and was dilated to about 4 almost 5 centimeters when I asked for the epidural (the pain from how strong my contractions were was too much at this point) I was given the epidural and I felt amazing. I couldn't feel the contractions but I could still move my legs. I was in labor for only about 2 more hours after that and then it was time to push. I pushed for about 45 minutes maybe a little less and I felt some pressure but not much. My labor was technically considered spontaneous labor since my water broke or was leaking on its own but I did need pitocin since I was completely closed down there. We got him out and I had him put on me for skin to skin right away. He latched right away and from there we went to recovery together. We haven't had any trouble with his latch and it was the best experience ever.

I've also had absolutely no BH or contractions my entire pregnancy. Not even after my membrane sweep.... @bentleysmomma

I would say get induced, I was scared to force him out if he wasn't ready but if you've had a healthy problem free pregnancy it will go fine!
