This is probably a stupid question. But in order for my ex to file for custody, he would have to "legitimize" our daughter or whatever right? Would a simple DNA test do that? Or?
I only ask cause he won't be at the hospital (mainly because I don't want him stressing me out and messing up me breastfeeding), so he won't sign the voluntary paternity form. Whatever it's called.
Sorry, I never had to deal with anything remotely like this with my 2 year old (her dad signed form at hospital and is smart enough to know that apart, she's better off with me).

he has to file for visitation n stuff and pay for a dna test that they order. if u file for child support they would order dna to be done if he dont wanna say shes his.

@lorraine2014, well he has DNA results already. His mom was skeptical that it was his kid (don't blame her, it only took one weekend) so we did the non invasive test a few months ago. And I already know he's gonna be trying to take her from me, that's what I'm trying to avoid. I know as her mother I have rights over her. We were never married. And when she's born, it'll take him like 8 hours to get here anyway. So I'm gonna tell him after everything is said and done. I wanna give breastfeeding a real chance, and if I'm stressed out by him, I know it won't happen.

@brianneofwonderland, he would have to prove ur an unfit mother to take her. so im sure ur fine. w.e u do if its that bad dont let him come. u tell him that so there isnt any problems to go file for his visitation rights cuz u dnt want drama. and in court u say ur breast feeding. but dont let him come bothering u. my baby daddy was an ass i was letting him pick up our first while i was prego and he ended up kidnapping her. but because we didnt have anything set in writing cops couldnt do anything i had to wait n convince him. and only reason he actually agreed was he didnt have anyone to babysit. if not i would have had to wait til court to get her back. n we werent married. n now because of his craziness yrs later he got his rights taken away. if u have doubts that he will be mateur bout dis then let him file. or u go file for child support already n let them handle the time sharing.

@lorraine2014, I'll probably just file for child support whenever I have her. Hoping I have her roughly at 38 weeks. That way there's still a couple weeks before he gets suspicious that he hasn't heard from me. And I really hope I can breastfeed just so I can use that as an excuse to keep her in GA since he lives in KY. I'm hoping that if he ends up with visitations, it stays in GA. At least for a few years.

@brianneofwonderland, i doubt since he lives far that he would get weekends or anything like dat for now. later probably vacations and summer. u would have to find out when u got to court. but dont worry everything will be fine
