My one cat does this too. She's really old. I have stopped leaving any kind of fabric on the floor, no rugs or laundry piles. I also spray with lemon juice around baseboards and areas I know she likes to try to go. Also she is litter picky. If she doesn't like the kind I get she won't use the box. I use the super granulated stuff and she seems to like that the best.

I know it's frustrating but it can be and needs to be worked out. Good luck with your fur baby.

Also if you get rid of her based on a problem you created it leaves little chance of her being adopted out leaving her to be euthanized. I hope you're more venting then seriously contemplating giving up on your animal like that.

@alexinwonderland, thanks my cat is almost 3. I don't know if she's doing it to be malicious. She's never done this before and I feel she can sense the baby coming. I'm just so upset I don't even know where to begin to find out where this smell is coming from. We have carpet in our upstairs but she isn't aloud in the bedrooms so her litter is in the hallway corner upstairs. I like the lemon juice idea il have to try that and see what happens🙁

I'm so sorry to hear, I know how intensely frustrating it can be. I've sworn to my fiancée she's out but I could never. I'm sure the new baby has a lot to do with it. My cats got super weird. I found letting her hang out in the nursery with me helped a lot. She won't pee in the baby's room anymore now that I've given her full access to it (this was after I sprayed the brand new carpet with lemon juice). She still pees on my stuff. For pee on carpet use white vinegar and baking soda, it foams up when combined. For pee on laundry I use my regular detergent and liquid fabric softener then add a cup of apple cider vinegar as well. Both the urine and vinegar smell is gone after one cycle unless heavily soiled. I hope this helps and you get relief. Maybe take her into the vet as well. It could be as simple as a UTI.

@desi720, is she fixed? She could be going into heat? I feel ur frustration, the cats do it outside and I don't even have a cat but I can't stand the smell, it is sad if you have to give away your cat, after 3 years, if you find a good home I'm sure it will be fine, I don't think it's healthy to be cleaning a littler box and smelling that smell esp with a LO coming, who knows baby might be allergic? Anyways mama, hang in there find some remedies and hope it works out for you, in the end you make the choice. 😘

@mom04, yes she is fixed. I'm sure I can find her a good home if it doesn't work out. But I really hope it does. she is such a well behave cat other than this issue. My SO takes care of her litter because it isn't safe for me. But sometimes I wish I could just do it my self so I know it's done right you know?
