So today Charlotte got moved out of the NICU which is wonderful but we were put on the surgery floor with a roommate who was this poor little premie baby and a terrible mom. She literally never held him unless she was feeding him and then as soon as she was done feeding him she would leave the room and not come back for three hours. And the poor baby would cry and cry and cry. The last time she came back and she reaked of alcohol. I went out to the nurses station and asked them to move us and told them about the mom. They moved us to our own private room thank goodness and I am hoping that they take care of that poor baby. It is breaking my heart to think of that child being left alone all the time.

My daughter was in the nicu too and it broke my heart to see the baby across the hall from us go through the same thing. No one ever came to see him except when the mom signed off her rights to the baby. He was a heroin withdrawal baby and he would just scream and scream..it killed me so much to see. I don't understand how anyone could treat their child that way.

that's so sad 😢 but good your out of the NICU and now have your own room. i would have had a hard time not going over there and picking that@katielee5897 baby up to comfort them

@ashbabash18, I am so lucky because I know my daughter will recover from this surgery and be fine the rest of her life but absolutely the hardest part is seeing those other babies who are so fragile. Especially the neglected ones! I look at my daughters face and I would do absolutely anything for her I don't understand how these people do such terrible things to their kids.

Ugh I know @tristan-makes-5 there were a couple of times I walked over just so he could see someone was there with him and he would stop crying. Like the child just wants to know he isn't alone and how freaking sad is that?!

It was actually seeing all those poor babies (the nicu Emma was in was mostly drug babies who were being taken by the state) that made me go back to school to become a nicu nurse. It broke my heart so much I decided I was going to take care of those babies and love those babies who have no one there for them.

I would've reported her for wreaking of alcohol. They could test the baby for FAS and if it turns out positive they'll take her baby. 😒

That is so awesome @ashbabash18 ! We have so many wonderful nurses especially in the NICU. I woke up this morning and the one nurse was just holding her hand and talking to her telling her she's doing well and it was so so sweet.

I'm hoping they do that, I told them she was neglecting her child and she smelled of alcohol so I'm sure there's some protocol they have! @harleyquinn420
