I personally think they need to learn independent play otherwise they'll need someone to stimulate them all the time. All the kids I've ever worked with had independent play time where they got to choose what they did. It helps them figure out how to entertain themselves and what they like. :)

@1sttimemummy, yes I totally agree I wish my my son would do that but he would end up crying instead if I made him play independently especially if I walked out the room

they do fight bt they can't be without each other 2yrs apart!!

Maybe try getting him started on an activity and sitting by him but, not participating and then each day slowly move further and further away. Let him pick the activity and get him really excited about it. Maybe it could help. All kids are different so there are a lot of different approaches :)

Try baby steps...first try to get him engaged in something while you're in the room but stay at a distance, and then just grow from there by leaving the room for a few minutes at a time so that he learns that you'll be right back or you're just around the corner. It might take awhile but hopefully it'll help. That's what I had to do with my son and now he plays great on his own :)
