thats how it is for us too, luckily i was able to get medical as a secondary

@wethreepeas, my insurance should cover 60% of all medical costs, it didn't cover any of this bill and idk why since my doctor ordered to have the test done. Unfortunately it's provided through my husbands job and we don't get to pick a different plan until the beginning of next year, and he makes too much for Texas Medicaid. so until January I'm basically screwed.

Have you called to check to see why they are not covering this test or did you get a breakdown of how much the test cost to begin with?

@savanahr777, I called and they said the test wasn't medically necessary, but how since my doctor ordered me to have it done.... (It was a blood screening for drugs, which my doctor has to run on all new pregnant patients it's the law)

Wow! I don't get how they would say not medically necessary. I know sometimes depending on who you talk to you could get a different answer.

Call and fight it! I do that with every bill. Things get billed wrong all the time. I paid $400 for blood work at the beginning of my pregnancy and for my son's birth only $500. If we hadn't fought each bill we would have had to pay almost twice that.

@savanahr777, @mommytoabel I'm going to call on Monday, and actually talk to someone who might know something, the girl on the phone today sounded like she really didn't know why and that was just the easiest reason for her to give me.

Good luck usually once you meet your deductible you are only responsible for a certain percentage

That happened to me a few weeks ago and considering I have work insurance AND Medicaid I knew I should be paying nothing. It turns out my office sent my lab work off to a hospital and didn't send my insurance information along with it.
