@mybabyloves, i respectfully* disagree... my doctor told me that the Pitocin given during induction can cause erratic heart rhythm. That the stress from the false contractions (or, rather medically induced contractions.) can also cause the mothers heart beat to become inconsistent. Plus, there is the risk of inconsistent contractions, ending in c-sections. But, either way, I'm a firm believer that "baby will come with baby is ready.". Unless there is a medical reason to forcibly removed the baby, I don't think it's normal or fair to the baby when baby still wants to grow inside. Of course though, there are many reasons why induction in necessary.
Unless there is a serious medical issue (like preeclampsia, or 42 weeks pregnant.) I say absolutely not! Due dates are just estimated, and can be wrong up to two weeks. PLUS, induction is 50% more likely to end up in c-section. Ouch!
