my husband was the same. only because he has difficulty sleeping. so he went home for a few hrs each night I was there to sleep. I was lonely but nurses were very helpful. my 2nd boy he did the same except he had to go to work the 3rd day I was there since he had only been there a month. I was depressed then but having my little baby sleep on my chest made it a little better. hopefully he changes his mind.

Men don't get how emotional and vulnerable we really are and especially post baby... Men are not as emotional.. they are hunters.. they mostly thinking about providing rather than comforting wifey after giving birth. Just look at him as your sole provider for you and the kids.. think about your time in the hospital bonding with baby and quiet time..

Mine suggested he would go home at night and return In the morning fully rested. I just laughed and said "no your not"

I think my husband would easily stay with me overnight but he really wants to go to work during the day...I think he's still stuck in the mindset of how with my daughter (c section) we were in the hospital for 4 and a half days. I think the average time in hospital is around 48 hours if all goes well. Thanks for your advice @kitty10 @starting_over39
