Yayyyyyyyyy!!!

I promised myself if I made it to the 6 month mark EBF, I would get this pump. I got my original (the Pump In Style Advanced) through Blue Cross, so while it was a commitment, it didn't cost me anything but a copay. I knew this one would be pricy and I didn't wanna spend such a chunk only to have it in the closet.

Well, I'm at month 5 and my husband told me to go ahead.

See I've had a rough rough time these past 7 months or so. In November my house burned to the ground. We lost everything except two Beanie Babies and a Bible. We went from being a family of four, to a family of 9, to a family of 8. We adopted 5 kids. Then Ajani was born--after me being in labor for almost 3 weeks. (Don't let that scare you.) He was a frank breech, delivered naturally. Hurt like two hells. Recovery was pain plus pain. Then our baby girl Camiyha passed away.

Through all this, including a time when I was pumping every 2 hours around the clock AND nursing Ajani, I managed to stay committed. Sometimes the only thing that kept me going was knowing I needed to take milk to the hospital for Camiyha so she wouldn't have to take formula. (Nothing wrong with formula, but she did so much better on donor milk that we knew we needed to continue as soon as I could provide her mine.)

She is gone now. I could just nurse Ajani. But he has taken an attachment to her bottles!!! And I have decided to keep pumping those 70 ounces a day so I can donate to the same NICU that gave my Camiyha such a fighting chance.

Soooooo I'm super excited. Even though I rewarded myself a month early, there have been times on this journey where I contemplated buying a case of formula and hanging up my flanges. (Again...NO JUDGMENT) I'm glad I've made it. At the 1 year mark I'll continue for a bit and keep donating. This cute little thing will make that so much easier. 💖 #happyMommyMoment
