hate how much pressure midwife's and health visitors put on you to breastfeed it's like if you struggle or choose to formula feed your doing something wrong or an injustice to your baby. I will try breastfeeding after I give birth but I shouldn't feel forced into it,should be by choice. I understand it has lots of benefits for baby but I shouldn't be made to feel guilty if I chose formula feeding! nearly felt like walking out of anti natal class felt so judgemental

My midwife asked if I would breast feed or formula feed, I answered formula and that was the end of it. She didn't try persuade me or anything! That's what I liked about her. x

what pisses me off is 90% of midwifes don't have kids so they don't know how hard breastfeeding and expressing is. I'm not doing it this time and people can judge all they like, my babies, my body and my choice!! formula is just as good as breast!! xx

I'm breastfeeding and I'm not going to lie, it's tough. I'm doing it because my husband has some pretty severe allergies ☺️

exactly I agree @raych it's our baby, our body, our choice if we choose breastfeeding or formula. I don't like the way society sees it either like if you breastfeed in public people give you funny looks even though it's as natural as bottle feeding!! and you have to cover them up with a cloth or blanket why when your doing something completely natural. why cover your child like you should be ashamed to feed them in public. yet midwife's say it's accepted in most public places. how is it if your having to cover your child and feed under a blanket!!! annoys me!!!

@natsbabyboy, midwives didn't bat an eyelid when I asked for a bottle. I planned on breastfeeding but after the labour I went through when they asked what I wanted, I said formula. I'm glad no one tried to persuade me coz I would have kicked off 😂😂

I feel exactly the same, the midwife talked me through it at my 12 and 16 week appointment, not really giving me much of a choice. Asked what I wanted and I said I'd make my mind up closer to the time so they put me down for breastfeeding! Then asked at my 28 week again and I said I didn't want to make a decision yet even though I will be formula feeding. I felt so pressured and ashamed to say I don't want too due to personal reasons. I've been called every name under the sun from other mothers who force breastfeeding on everyone. If you breastfeed that's great! If you don't that's great too! A fed baby is a happy baby. xx

exactly that's what I think. @canteloupe24 as long as there fed happy and healthy that's all that matters. nobody should feel pressured into anything I'm sick of being asked 24/7 if I'm breastfeeding by midwife's and other parents. I feel like saying why should it matter to you what I choose to do aslong as my baby is fed that's all that matters. then when I say I'll try breastfeeding and see how it goes they all pipe up like oh yes you should it will be so. much better for your baby. even my boyfriends nagging me about breastfeeding!! I feel like saying piss off it's my choice at the end of the day!!!

@natsbabyboy, I think you should do what you're comfortable with. If you try breastfeeding and don't like it you can always switch to formula. Whereas I know my body and my limits and I know id constantly be worrying about if he's getting enough milk, when and where I can feed him without feeling uncomfortable (I'm very self conscious) and I think a comfortable mother who isn't worrying about every feed is more important for a baby. People need to back off and respect the mothers wishes instead of making her feel like a failure. There's no right way to do things these days x
