My OH needs some advice, he was abused physically, mentally and sexually as a child and was forced to watch his dad take an overdose when he was 8. He now understandably has a lot of anger which he is getting help for but he feels like he's a shit father and that Daisy would be better off without him and because of the sexual abuse he get worried when changing her. He is convinced Daisy hates him and sees him like he sees his dad 😕 does anyone know how he can get it into his head that she loves him and that he isn't a shit dad? Also, my family seem to think I shouldn't be around him with Daisy until his anger is sorted which obviously really upsets him 🙁 He is disabled and is unable to do as much as he'd like with Daisy which also affects his anger and upsets him.

Babies pick up and respond to all emotions whether they be positive or negative feelings/emotions. So if he's stressed/anxious/worried or angry daisy will more than likely be more emotional and upset herself. If he's recognising these things and the impact on daisy herself then that shows he's not a crap dad but a dad struggling. All parents struggle and he's just got a few extra issues to contend with. I do see your family's view point, they're only trying to protect you both but only you can make that choice at end of day. If your oh is working on his issues that's a step in the right direction. I know people say that those who have been abused go on to abuse their own children but that's utter shit. He will get through this with the right support and guidance. Maybe praise the positives with him and gently correct the negatives? Does he attend anger management? If so can you go with him to pick up tips on how to calm him and recognise triggers etc?

@natzie86, thank you for your comment :) when he's anger I get annoyed... He called Daisy a thing the other day which he has apologised for and said he didn't mean it. I will definitely try my best to keep calm and try to think about why he is angry 😊
