i already want a midwife instead of a doctor.

hey this is my first time having a midwife instead of a doctor is there a difference? just curious

@txyogagirl, no you're not. I legit just switched to a midwife at my last appointment because the Dr that's on call on my due date is the one I refuse to deliver her. Nobody I've talked to likes him either.

personally, I think the drs aren't personable at all! they give you opportunity to ask questions but when you're a first time mom you're not really sure on what to ask. I don't start seeing the midwives til Thursday but I've heard nothing but good things! ive heard They have you fill out what you want your birth plan to be and try so hard to stick to it...its more of like having a friend there rather than a random person. But don't let anybody tell you that you can't switch cause its "too late" This is all about you and your baby and what makes you most comfortable! if you don't like your Dr, that puts you in a stressed environment right off the bat! screw that! 😊

I'm still meeting all of the doctors at work and I love the two midwives I've met and I also really love the one doctor I met she was so sweet. Men are a little less like.... Personable idk. Lol I did like the first man I saw cause he seemed very knowledgeable but the second man noooo way I even requested not to see him again. I thought for sure I'd want a midwife at first but then I really liked that one doctor. Does the doctor office you go to have more than one doctor? Try to schedule an appt with them all to see who you like best

I had a male OB and then my insurance changed. The OB was ok but rushed me. He had a starchy nurse who had no bedside manner. I switched to a midwife. I absolutely love everything about her. She also has a nurse. The nurse is like my friend (as someone else said). She is so sweet and thorough. I couldn't ask for a better support system being a FTM.

@answeredprayer16, well I guess it's not to late but my plan with a midwife verses a dr would be totally different because with my dr I give birth at a hospital and if I choose a midwife I would give birth at a birthing center. I already have my birthing classes and hospital tour set and I do love my dr also the on call dr I have had appt with once and I liked her as well but. So either way it will be one of the 2 to deliver our baby. I guess the birthing center and midwife route sounds fabulous however this is my first so I think it's best to give birth in a hospital just so if it's to unbearable the drugs are there although I'm opting for no pitocin no induction no episiotomy heat compression and labor at home for long as possible. My dr agrees with everything surprisingly since dr do study medicine and it's stand procedure to do opposite of all what I listed. But she's very sweet and understands I have a hands on husband will to help with those things and respects my wishes so I happy we're I'm at but baby #2 I would love to go the birthing center route.

oh my midwives deliver at the hospital so I agree, that would be a deciding factor or me as well. @txyogagirl

i dont really want to deliver in a hospital anyways. i want to find a birthing center

@answeredprayer16, yes now I will know what to expect for baby number 2 and I can hopefully make a choice early in my pregnancy
