Any advice on what I can do to keep my baby from crying out in the middle of the night randomly?

Your baby may be hungry, dirty, wet, need burped, etc.

If I get up and get on the couch and put him on my chest, he will go right back to sleep. It's only occasionally that this happens

My daughter did this he's getting used to being on the outside its hard but it will get better I gave my daughter mylicon in her milk because I also figured it was gas and it helped

Even at almost 7 months?

It might sound cruel, but if after checking on him/her and baby is not hungry,dirty or wet? Let him/her know you are there but don't pick up your baby from the bed. Talk to your baby, pray or sing until your baby calms down, let baby know is time to sleep you love her/him and leave the room again. ( repeat if needed) Is going to be so hard to fight the urge to not pick up your baby!! Trust me! But it will be only for two or three days. It worked for me and my baby girl and she has been sleeping in her own bassinet then it was crib all night since she was 4 months old. And before that she would only wake up to feed every 2-4hrs until the times got longer and longer.

Its time to move him to his own bed and room. If thats not a choice for you then try the calming him down and not moving him from his bed and make a routine every night to get him ready for bed.
