idk if it's common. but I would want my name back if we got a divorce. but it's also going through the trouble of changing all paper work back to your original name that's probably why they just end up keeping the name

My fiancé ex keep his last name when they divorced because of there kids having that last name.

Depends on the state. It wasn't a problem changing mine back but I had 4 years of adulthood with my married name. It was a long process having everything switched over. There are still some things with my married name.

@sparklymama, I don't know anything about her! I just heard his daughter say it so this is the first I'm of knowledge of it. They have 2 children together.

I know a few women who kept their ex husband's last names after a divorce, it's a hassle to change it back and like PP said they want to still have the same last name as their kids.

My aunt kept her married name and my friend kept her married name cause she wanted to have the same last name as her kids

my mom kept my dad's last name because of us children.

My mom kept my dad's last name after their divorce because she liked it better than her maiden name lol. To each their own
