My hubby and I chose a theme for our baby room centered on the movie Up by Pixar. This would include balloons, clouds, and a lovely tapestry I bought.
My mother in law decided to surprise us with a cross stitched framed 8x10 of a mouse that she made. It doesn't even begin to go with our baby's room. It's too soft and vintage for the theme - our decor being lively and adventurous. Since it's hand made and I know took some time, I'm not sure what to do with it. It was kind of her to give... But I just don't want it in the baby's room. Advice?

Hang it while she's there or take pictures with it up so she can see. Then move it elsewhere.

@mrsschmalz, its a movie my husband and I really love. We own both of the dogs from the movie, both Dug and Alpha, it's a theme that is personally so fitting for us. We even match the characters, my husband being the quieter, introverted and logical one and me being the louder, adventurous, spontaneous one. We're way more attached to our theme than the gift.

@mommarodey, @jessijane84 @nygirl3rdbabymiami great ideas! We do have a closet door it could go on the inside of so it's displayed when the door is opened, or on the back of the room door! Or even the bathroom would be a great idea. We have no pictures in there. Haha, my husband even still has a race car painting she made him when he was a little boy. He's never even liked cars or been into them. He's more musically inclined. She loves making things, but isn't the best at gifting and making her gifts match the individuals who receive them.

@mommarodey, I have a lot of quilters in my family, so I think I'll be on the same page as you! Blankets can be used regardless, sure, but maybe won't be my favorite either. We're at least not revealing sex to anyone, so I'm at least hoping that will remove so many gender specific giftings.

@jessijane84, she did tell me she didn't care what room I hung it in. She's pretty tough, not a sensitive lady. She said she'd had the cross stitch for awhile and when we said we were having a baby she made it for us. She didn't pick it out specifically for us or anything. Makes me feel less bad for not being thrilled about it too!

@jessijane84, aww, I'm sorry! I always feel so bad for girls without good mother in laws. Mine is not great with gifts, but she's a huge blessing in my life.
