so I'm new here. I added this app specifically to find moms who have overcome the feelings I'm having.

I'm a 28 (almost 29) year old stay at home mom with an (almost) 4 year old son and an (almost) 8 month old daughter. I have been home with My kids since before My daughter was born. My son will be starting preschool soon, and my daughter is exclusively breastfed. I have had depression for a very long time. and having my daughter eventually made things worse. and exclusively brestfeeding has intensified everything. I now have a sense of resentment from it because I can't have five minutes alone unless she is sleeping. I literally have to take her to the bathroom with me. It is bad.

I love my kids more than life itself, but I have no identity. I feel like my job in life is to be a moo cow/mom. I want to put my daughter in formula so that I can be myself again. I don't want to, actually, but I need to. I need to be me again. I have completely lost myself. I have tried reaching out to my significant other, but he doesn't get it. he gets to go out with his friends, go places and do things. he gets to escape reality by going to work, or wherever else he needs or wants to go. he just doesn't get it. we are at a point now that he is ignoring me and spending time with his friends. I haven't seen him in almost two days. we are currently living with his family until we get on our feet. I am getting ready to start the long process of starting a very intensive job. this has me excited, but nervous also. I'm scared to start this journey, but I'm ready to have an identity. this is a true identity crisis. I need to find myself again. everything is falling out from under me. this includes my love life, my life as a mom, friend, daughter, everything. I am a shell of the person I once was, and I need it back. somehow, some way, I need to find myself.

has anyone else been in this situation? how did you overcome it?

I think you are starting on the right path by starting a job. You'll find that having that time away from your kids will be bittersweet. I know it sounds crazy but I find that being at work and school is the only time I have to work on my interest outside of my motherly/ wifely duties. Yes, kids and spouses are important people in your life but you have to take care of you to be fully functioning and present for them. Good Luck and Let me know how it goes for you. @stevi87

Taking small effective steps is a way to overcome it. Also consider seeing a counselor/ therapist to help work through your depression. @stevi87
