Do any of u moms have a child with ADHD? what were signs ur child had it?

My youngest son has ADD. I've never put him on medication. He just has a hard time focusing. But it takes me as his parent putting in the extra effort to keep him focused and patience.

my daughter will be 4 in October and she has a hard to focusing when I talk to her Nd if I start her doing a chore or playing it's like she cant complete the task. she can barely sit still to eat. and when she gets overwhelmed or I redirect her back to the task she freaks out and has a full blown tantrum that sometimes becomes violent towards us or her siblings. I am getting very concerned. he dr has been telling me for a long time it's normal an she will grow out of it but she is getting worse instead of better..idk what to do with her. any advice @lovelymommylumps

My son doesn't get angry behind it or never threw tantrums. He does have some issues controlling his temper like throwing things. But he has pretty much stopped doing that once he realized he breaks things and I'm not replacing them anymore. Actually understanding what they did wrong may be the difference between ADHD and ADD. It does take patience and making him look and pay attention to me when I'm talking to him. But he is also 10 now and it's a lot better. I take the things that matter the most to him away until he is done with a chore, homework, etc. Sometimes it takes him hours to do something small and sometimes he gets it done quickly.

how early did he start to show signs of add? @lovelymommylumps

I didn't notice until he started kindergarten because before that he was still a baby to me who didn't understand. So I would say 5. It might change once she starts school

she was in preschool and I had to take her out because they said they weren't trained to deal with her........which sounds horrible. idk if she has like a disorder or if she is just wild? I have four kids and another on the way. all my children r well behaved and listen etc except her....

Have you tried punishing her for her behavior. like time out until she calms down or taking things that she likes away from her until she calms down. If so. you may need to try something from the doctor but don't let them try to dope her up

yes I have tried time outs and taking toys. sometimes it works and sometimes it causes her to get violent. I am afraid the drs around here will automatically want to put her on meds but I don't feel like I want her to b a zombie? @lovelymommylumps

So when she gets violent. Put her on time out in the room by herself. She has to learn about the consequences to her actions and hopefully soon she'll stop and grow out of it.

yea I will def try that. it's hard ya know but I have to teach her how to deal
