She was almost immediately taken to the NICU, she is still there today. We anticipate her being in there for another thirty days or so.
(I'm not wanting to post pictures of her on social media, but I at least wanted to announce her birth on here. That's why it's not a very good picture of her face. Especially because she's in the NICU we're not ready to share her with the world when we haven't been able to spend the amount of time we want with her yet.)
@mybabyloves, Thank you! She's off the CPAP machine, but she'll still be here for at least another two weeks they said. At least she's off the oxygen!!😊
Aww I am so sorry. I know what you mean, she is in the best hands but it doesn't make it any easier on you as a mom. It's moments you are suppose to spend bonding one on one not at a hospital. Stay strong for that little girl, it will be over soon
@mybabyloves, she's on the CPAP machine. If she kept breathing that fast on her own then she would go into respiratory distress and die. The machine was pumping oxygen on high, but they've been able to turn it down without it effecting her respiratory rate. So we're getting there. She's been in the NICU for almost two weeks. It could be another thirty days. It breaks my heart. I'm missing time with her that I can never get back. And I had my tubes tied, so I can't experience the newborn stage again.
As I am sorry she has to go through that. NICU mom life is hard, my daughter spent 8 weeks in the NICU but that is because she was born at 33 weeks. Stay strong, I hope she starts breathing normal soon. I am sure it's extremely tiring breathing that fast all the time
When she was born she was taking 146 breaths per minute, babies are only supposed to take an average of 30 - 60 breaths per minute. She doesn't have any kind of infection, her lungs are developed, she is producing enough surfactant, she is perfectly healthy.. Yet she is breathing really fast. She isn't breathing as fast as she was at birth at this point, but she still isn't breathing quite how they want her to so she's still in the NICU.
