I had a c-section, it was unplanned so I had no time to prepare. I have horrible anxiety, & trust me, even I was completely fine. To my surprise I actually didn't mind the c-section, it was so quick & easy. The aftermath was decent. Just get lots of rest while you can. You're gonna be tired from all the medication. It does hurt to walk the first fee times, so take it easy & listen to your body & what it can handle. It will hurt to laugh, cough, sneeze, & sit up in bed for the first 1-2 weeks. I think you actually recover pretty quickly. It's been 3 weeks & 1 day since mine, & I feel completely back to normal. I actually wore the hospital gowns the entire time I was in there. It was most comfortable for me.
@mommyandjonford, Dr said that the baby is too large for vaginal birth and he doesn't want to risk having the babies head come out and have his shoulders get stuck.
@pandabby805, because you won't be allowed any food or drink after a certain time make sure to ask for a wet wash cloth to keep your mouth wet while in surgery if you have large breast ask about being able to wear a sportsbra
@pandabby805, the way I prepared for my first c-section was telling myself that my baby will be in my arms no matter if was born vaginally or by c-section and having my support team remind me of that. I packed a robe, slippers and socks and only used the slippers, my go home out fit which was sweats but I had so much swelling the last time that they weren't comfortable so I may go with a dress this time. I packed water and snacks and money for food because the hospital food didn't cut it. When I went home to recover I wore nothing but night shirts and my robe.
and when they bring you in, remember to breath, idk if @kysonsmama experienced it but the meds they give you during your operation make you feel like you can't breath, but don't worry. they have a lot of nurses in the room for support and reassurance.
I was too uncomfortable in pants so I got some night gowns. I also brought warm socks because they constantly have you walking to help the healing. bring some big undies, I know unattractive but they help. I liked boy shorts the most.
3 days. Bring pants that dont have a tight waist band and baggy shirts. And lots of "period" underwear. They make u wear pads and like mesh underwear but the underwear literally made my buttcheeks break out in a rash.
Mentally u have to think like "ok lets get thru this" just like vag birth. Physically? Ehh u cant really. It will feel like u did 1,000000000 crunches.
