I had an interesting conversation with my mom yesterday. I was explaining the labor positions we were taught in our child birthing classes and she was very surprised the lamaze style breathing is not being taught anymore. (she had us kids between '87-'94) I told her I honestly had no interest in learning lamaze breathing but I would do some research. From what I found that type of breathing actually tenses up your muscles and mimics what your body would do in a panic situation. There's been a lot that's changed since she had kids.
