I know they say its safe, but I never did it with any of my 5 pregnancies. Not worth the risk to me. I would have felt terrible exposing my growing baby to those chemicals. Even just breathing in the smell isn't good, in my opinion.
The lady that does my hair told me it's not necessarily bad, the chemicals in the dye just react to your hair differently when your pregnant, so it might be harder to get the results you want.
there is absolutely nothing wrong with coloring your hair while pregnant as long as you are in a well ventilated area. all salons are set up to have good ventilation for the simple fact that the color, perms and other chemicals services need to have that.
Then at around 28 weeks I went and got my hair professionally dyed. She bleached it, but just didn't put me in the heating thing that they usually put people in, cause she didn't want the Chemicals getting to the baby.
I say its fine, just make sure you're in a well ventilated area.
My baby wasn't harmed by it at all, he's healthy and fine.

Just has to be ammonia free hair dye and be in a well vented area while dying your hair

I used box dye at 12 weeks.
