I'm trying to understand why my friend has made it to 8cm and she did that fast, but for the last 7 hours she hasn't moved from 8cm...shouldn't they be getting baby out or can you really just sit like that....won't the epidural just get weaker and weaker?

She's fine, I was in labor for a total of 70 hours and the epidural wore off by the time I got to 10cm and began to push. I also stayed at 8cm for 7 hours!

Epidural will be fine .. If her contractions slowed down they will give her oxytocin to help them get stronger again

Everyone is different. But it can happen. I went natural with both of my deliveries but i was warned that if i got the epidural it could wear off before itd be time to push...also if you tense up it can interfere with how your dilating. Instead of progressing you can stop dilating. With my second birth they told me i needed to relax so i could dilate right. Easier said than done lol
