my dilemma: i had my baby on Thursday... im finally home and now im engorged and my nipples are swollen.. she nursed for about 30-45 mins ending around 1030 pm now its 0202 and i cannot get her to latch because one breast has a flat nipple thats swollen and the other is about 3x the normal size.. what.can I do.. ive tried tylenol for the swelling, hot compress, i took a hot shower and focused on my boobs.. my boobs are leaking but just cannt latch.. i really need to feed her.. but now she decides to go to sleep. any suggestions I really don't want to give her formula for the night

no hand pump.. i guess thats what i need.. its just so hard getting her to wake up and eat i feel soo bad. @gabbii

Do you have a pump? If you pump until you aren't engorged anymore ,and then she should be able to latch.

@nicolepb my friend just picked me up a pump. .. ill go back for the shield. . which brand is good

@lilfree16, try you tubing how to hand express. They went over this in my birthing class Saturday. They said most people do it wrong. They also said if the baby is sleepy do something like change its diaper and then try to nurse.

@lilfree16, good! I hear that can be really painful! I guess at least you have a good supply! Lol. Hopefully once you can pump it will be better!

@babybue16 yeah i went and got a doubke eletric.. im tempted to pump again since my daughter isnt hungry lol .. it kinda sucks all I have to do it look at her ot touch her and it just hardens =/
