I thought the same thing too but honestly it wasn't even on my mind at the time and he wasn't gross at all. He was just wet. He didn't have blood or anything nasty on him at all.

i was the same way i told them i couldnt hold a baby covered in all that. they understood and wiped him him off before handing him to me. just let them know:)

It's actually very good for their skin, you should read about it - it's called vernix caseosa. I also read somewhere that people would pay a lot of money to put it in a bottle, it's that good for the skin apparently.

@kdollarhide, I felt the same as you but then I read about it and changed my mind. Supposedly you shouldn't take them a bath until the next day so it can absorb into their skin.
