so I'm super confused... i didn't know until now that you don't get your baby's social security card or birth certificate in the hospital when you deliver. (I just assumed that's how this all works) so now idk what to do because my baby is being added on to my fiancés military health insurance but they need his birth certificate to add him. aren't we supposed to go for a 3 day post delivery appointment? my baby won't have insurance that fast. there's no way.

He should still be able to do so.

🤔 are you on his DEERS? The mil understands it takes a while for the docs to come in. There should be forms to square it all away

you have 90 days to get baby in DEERS, I think it is the same for Tricare. Both will come in plenty for time before the automatic coverage (if you are on his tricare too) lapses.

you can do the paperwork for the social security card early to get the ball rolling if you want.. i did

You'll be able to take the baby to get seen. Also they give you temporary documents when you get discharged so you can enroll them in DEERS

Мама двоих (младенец)
my daughters doctors are just waiting for her mane to pop up on the tricare website, we didn't get her social security card until last weekend and my husband had to make up his drill so we aren't able to get her on deers until monday then on to tricare and the doctor can then bill them for the times she went in
