How does wic even work? Do they just give you coupons? Or do they give you other stuff too?

@babybunn, wic will give you a booklet and 4 checks a month that tells you what you can buy, and the booklet gives the brands that you can buy. I can show you a sample of mine if you'd like.

I just got Wic recently so I don't how far the benefits go but I have a card that u swipe at the grocery store just like a debit card and it allows me to get certain things off a list that are pre approved

I live in ohio, we got a card with everything on it for the month. Like 4 gallons of milk, 2 gallons of juice, a dozen of eggs, 16 oz in grains( like bread) 2 jars of peanut butter and 36 oz in cereal. You have up till the end of the month to use it all, if you dont then its gone. It doesnt rollover. Then theres certain brands that your allowed to purchase. Like general mills. It really all depends on the state you live in. 😁

Depends on the state. In Michigan, they give you a card, but you can only get what's on your list

I live in Minnesota and by the time this baby comes we should be getting like 12 vouchers a month.

@babybunn, and not everyone gets cards, wic is trying to switch to cards, so some people are getting cards while others still get the checks.and thats an example of what the inside of the book will look like, and that page is the only kind of cereal you can buy with wic

Yeah I'm in Ohio and I used to have wic back in 2011 with my first born. it was literally colored paper forms you filled out that looked like Giant checks. say for example you got 2 checks, one said "1 gallon milk. up to 32 oz box cereal. 1 jar peanut butter" (etc) you could get anything up to the max number on each check but if you did not use it all, you lost it by using said check. (say you didn't get the peanut butter. then you lost it for that month) etc.

I know in my County we have a card they still give u a booklet that let's u know what u can and can't get and u get so much a month in milk juice bread cereal pb and even fruits and vegetables
