hi ladies :) I have a question regarding paid family, more specifically baby father bonding. I've been trying to get a hold of paid family leave hot line through edd, but no luck my question is: will my hubby get paid through his job for taking the 6 weeks off after baby is here or is it paid through the state? or is baby father bonding not paid at all? has anyone else gone through this?

@orionsmomma, it's like disability but not really, right? hubby will get paid half of what he earns. thanks so much! did your hubby take the baby bonding time?

Yes exactly (: my husband took 2 weeks off then he's gonna take 4 in December for xmas. You can split up the weeks as long as you take the full 6 within a year that baby is born.

actually he's covered for job protection through FMLA but not guaranteed pay that's on a state by state basis and depends on the employer what the hr policy states

My husband is a carpenter, and that's how he did it. So I'm not sure if it does depend on their job/employer?

@sparklymama, he did fmla a while ago because he was sick. hubby is a civil engineer. I don't think he's bothered to ask HR about it though. he just kind of told me to call today. @orionsmomma I appreciAte the information. it does help quite a bit. unfortunately I have to keep cAlling 😭

Yeah, my husband didn't go through his company he went strait through EDD but, we applied online :/ we never talked to anyone.

He has to go through the company he works for. The hr rep may have him call the company's insurance and request the leave and they may have him bring in something that says you are expecting.
