The United States has almost the worst maternity/paternity leave in the world. Even some 2nd and 3rd world countries have better benefits than we do! It's ridiculous.

It really sucks. Especially if you've been working at the new job less than a year you won't even be eligible for FMLA. This country really screws new mothers! Talk to your supervisor and see if there's any hidden benefits or any way you could get some sort of paid leave, even just for a little while. Some places can work with you

@emkasting, I talked to HR. I'm only 3 months shy of getting benefits but they won't do anything.

I'm so sorry :( that's really stressful and in my opinion very unfair.

could you try short term disability thru your job? I know some jobs around here do things like that

@mischell, oh wow. that sucks. I know where my boyfriend works they have FMLA if you've been there a year. something they call Gibbs leave if you haven't been there a year and then the short term disability. I hope all works out well for you

Won't qualify?! That's such bull!! I hope whoever the new president is gives benefits to ALL working mothers and fathers including extended paid maternity/paternity leave and obligatory low-cost, on-campus child care options 😑😑😑

@yogabump, yes I agree. It's out me under so much stress. If you have a job and work nobody will help you. I'm seriously screwed.
