if its excessive swelling and doesn't go away at all it could be cause of concern.. the er is never any help during late pregnancy that's why I'm saying ask your ob. swelling is normal but typically elevating your feet & drinking water would reduce it

@graciesmama, it hasn't helped. I have swelling past my knees & my hands. I have an appt tomorrow. but I'm in so much pain.
