when i had my son 11 years ago (almost 12years ago) each morning i'd make 8 bottles up and they would chill on the side untill going in fridge. i would do this each morning and use them feeds throughtout the day as and when needed, obviously if didnt drink all from one then it would be thrown and bottle backnin steriliser ready to start again.
can you not do this anymore and have to do bottles 1 by 1 as u need them?
I might sound stupid here! But to make up a bottle you can put the boiling water in the bottle and just leave it to go room temp, then add the formula when you need it? Then you just give it to them at room temp!? Or have you Gotta warm it up so it's warm!? I'm a ftm and no one ever teaches you things like this! Haha. Sorry if I sound stupid!?
Aw mine are just plain I might have to invest in some cute ones lol, and things have changed since I had my 1st and that was only 3 year ago, you will be fine you will get right back into the swing of things @tg123456789 xx
yeah there really cute aswell, flower shaped pots that hold upto 10 scoops @nic881 cant beleive how much things change over the years. im honestly scared shitless this time round for baby no.2!! xx
I have never heard of a baby being bad from the way I do the bottles and I have also heard a lot of bad reviews on the prep machine my midwife and health visitor advised against it but like you said @mumma2be2016 it is personal choice, I don't put the water in the fridge but a lot of people do, and in America slit of people use bottled water which I heard was no good because it has lot of salt in, different places/people do different things, pleased you got some storage pots ideal for when your out and about you don't have to take a tub of powdered milk with you would take up your whole changing bag lol @tg123456789 xx
nah she knows i cant breastfeed, even off stay off medications i still couldnt as had implants over the muscle hence not been able to do it before. otherwise i would.
its something to do with bacteria gethering in the filter or something i didnt listen to be honest as to why she said because reading reviews on net id made my mind up i wouldnt be getting one. @mumma2be2016
Midwifes etc won't advocate it because they're so big on breastfeeding. I'm just planning on using the ready made stuff for out and about. Personally only heard good reviews of the machine, but is each to their own, my midwife even has one 😂
i know but ive heard too many bad reviews bout the pefect prep and midwife alsonadvised against plus u knt take that out with u when out and about. ive just got back from town and got some baby milk storage posts from boots. @nic881 @mumma2be2016
That's why I've got the perfect prep machine, will be making up bottles as I go along. I don't trust making them in advance tbh, or adding formula to water that's not boiling. Personal choice though.
I have a powder pot that has three compartments I got it from home bargains, I have seen the ones that store on the bottle but I haven't tried them I don't know anyone else that uses them either so haven't heard much about them @the 123456789 xx
just looking and the tommee tippee ones where u store it in the bottle doesnt think make the water fill up in the bottle and possibly leak? @sinlou93
you can @tg123456789 but i put milk in powder pots next to bottle and just add to the water when needed. as i have this fear of milk going off. but of a night i did used to make them uo let them cool down and pop them in fridge xx
thats what i mean.. i just put milk powder in when bottle is needed hun...@nic881, makes it easier lol xx
Yeh I used to add the formula. Let cool down then pop in the fridge. Then I'd use a bottle warmer. However my friend used to add powder as and when baby needed a bottle & have a room temperature so I started doing that. Saved waiting to heat up.
I make 6 bottles on a morning after I have sterilised them and add the formula through the day as and when baby needs, I did the same with my daughter 3 year ago, both my daughters have wanted bottles every 1-2 hours so it was just easier for me to do it this way, don't put the milk in unless you are going to use it though as it goes bad after 2 hours of standing, or 1 hour if the baby has had a drink from it, or this was what I was always told anyway lol @sinlou93 xx
so can you make the milk with the scoops in like a fully made bottle and use them throughout the day? @sara-lou @sinlou93 x
It's really up to you. A health visitor would advice against it. They like them made up fresh. But we know realistically we don't have the time or a patient baby to wait for that lol. I boil 4 or 5 at a time let them cool then add the formula when baby needs it 😊
@daniluvsdis, this time round im giving it at room temp. xx
