I'm 30 weeks and 3 days pregnant. So here is an update with the glucose testing stuff. I failed the one hour horribly. The affects from the sugar and the sugar crash put me in bed with a fever almost like a coma for 3 days. I was told I had to do the 3 hr glucose test at LabCorp. I'm sorry but I was extremely petrified and miserable that I had to do it. I did a little research whether I could refuse and what my options would be. I am a first time mommy and just over a year clean off iv drugs. My first pregnancy ended up a miscarriage when I decided to get clean last year. Took awhile to get over and not beat myself up. I ended up turning my life around. A blessing in disguise. The thought of getting stuck 4x didn't sit well with me nor what the affects would've been after the test. My OB is working with me and I am supposed to take my blood sugar 4x a day ( a small poke in a finger is a hell of a lot better than a blood draw). I got all my supplies and directions on what I have to do and I started today. The blood glucose cut off levels are that of a pregnant woman with gestational diabetes, and I did look up normal levels vs GD levels. So far 2 out of my 3 finger sticks have not been looking good. One was 1 point lower than the cut off after BF and my after lunch stick was waaay over. I have to do this for 2 wks and log it and then bring it in to my next appt. I'm a little nervous but trying to stay positive. Thanks for reading 😊
