so I did not want to have a baby shower because my little girl already has everything she needs and I'm way to shy for baby showers. However, yesterday my SO's mother stated that since I refused to have a baby shower she was going to have herself a first time grandmother's shower. I'm so confused as to why this is necessary this whole time she has been acting like this is going to be her child not ours. we have repeatedly made it clear to her that we do not trust her to be around our child alone but she still thinks she is the only one who is going to babysit her and acts as though my parents don't exist.

Seems like an attention thing. I don't know her, but going off what you posted that's what it seems like. It's not necessary or wanted by the parents so she's salty that she won't have the limelight. People like that infuriate me 🙄

I'd cut that off real fast. This isn't her baby, SHE does not need anything for your baby. That's all about attention. I'd be shutting it right down.

the problem is we have tried and tried and tried to explain to her that it is our child and we will raise her the way we see fit but she refuses to listen. my SO has even stated that he is to the point of not letting her in our daughters life because she refuses to listen. he is beyond pissed because I do not get hurt by much but I was extremely hurt by this.
