I gotta rant. So we all know it's a possibility our husbands in the military can get orders elsewhere, in which case we just have to pack up and move. If you know that's a possibility and you still get an animal but don't plan on taking it with you, then DON'T GET THE FUCKING ANIMAL. I've got two dogs over 40 pounds, one of them is over 60, and military will only transport one animal, and it's gotta be under 60 pounds. We've got to manage to transport our 60+ pound doberman, but we will do it because he's our family. you've got a 5 pound fucking chihuahua and you can't transport that thing in your backseat? idiot

we had two large dogs that we packed up in our little car and move across country...he was in the Navy...our dogs are family and never thought once about getting rid of them.

We've gotta transport a 10,5,1 and newborn, 1 large dog, 1 small dog and a cat from Georgia to California sometime after I have the baby in October.

@eskawho, I think about getting rid of mine all the time cause they make me angry, but they're family like you said and I never could lol. @jenn61115 oh lord lol, I couldn't do that. luckily my husband is getting out in 2017 with no orders elsewhere but we still have to move them wherever he finds work

what if they have to find a place rather quickly and all The places available don't allow dogs? especially with children involved...if,i had to move and had to find a place for my family to live and I had to get rid of my dog because no where accepted her( she's a pitbull) I would have to make the toughest decision of my life, but my son is more important

base housing allows dogs. if they have to make a decision that quickly I would opt to live on base. I think some bases actually offer you a house for a small amount of time after pcsing until you can find a place in town or just stay on base, I'm not sure but I feel like I've heard that

That's specifically why we didn't get a pitbull, so we wouldn't have to make any decision like that. unfortunately, after we got our doberman we found out only our base allows them, but most people think he's a weim, or lab mix

I've had my pitbull before I even imagined marrying a marine, but we found a place off base and now that he's out we live in his family's apartment. she's by far the best dog I've ever had

Yep most bases have places for people to stay if on base housing isn't available yet. We're supposed to be on a 3-6 month wait list for Cali but with his job and what he's doing they are moving him to the top. Which doesn't seem very fair to me
