what do you all think of this? I saw a post on a local Facebook garage sale site asking for baby supplies because a birth mother decided to keep the baby after she gave birth instead of following through with an adoption that had been planned. I understand that love of seeing your baby for the first time but I can't imagine the pain the adoptive parents must be in

I think adoptive parents are hurt but they should always prepare themselves for that because adoption is never set until the papers are signed, and between the time of birth and papers sign the birth mother can change her mind. but I also think if the birth mother has to ask strangers for baby items then she isn't fit financially for the baby and should've went thru with the adoption.

@kelseys, agreed completely. I think that is a common fear with adoption. My parents actually were on there way to pick up a baby when they were told there was no longer to be an adoption. No I'm sorry or anything, just an agent with a cold voice. it's was terrible. However, I don't think I could ever let go of my babies...
Also agree with the financial issue here. I don't know the story behind it all but they are requesting everything from diapers, formula to swings, and toys....

that's horrible, I couldn't imagine being an adoptive parent 😣. with my first son, I was 14 while pregnant but had him a month after I turned 15. my mom forced abortion on me but it was too late because I was so far along and during the talk with the therapist, my mom said she wouldn't let me give my baby up for adoption because she couldn't live with not knowing who he is(but she can live knowing she made me kill him), but my point is, even tho its hard to go thru pregnancy and give your children up, I would've done it if I felt I had the choice to. and its one thing to ask for little baby items like clothes or whatever but if you can't get diapers and formula on your own then you definitely aren't ready for a baby.

I understand looking at your baby and immediately getting attached. But one of my best friends can't have children and has been a foster mom for a few years and trying to adopt a newborn since she found out she couldn't get pregnant. It was the most complicated process ever and i definitely think they should make adoption go by a lot more smoothly considering there's so many children that need families. She has her baby boy now but I would be so heart broken for her if his biological mom would have changed her mind.

@kelseys, it's interesting to hear your perspective on this situation. I don't know what it's like know you have to give up your little baby after carrying and worrying about them an entire pregnancy but I know with my first I struggled with the thought. I was a single mom who had nothing and no one. The father was horrible to me and still is but I loved my son from

the very beginning and knew I could choose that route. I just knew it in my heart.

@christimary0, it's heartbreaking to think about it from their perspective. they prepared and prayed for this baby and now they will never meet him
