any other moms get gestational diabetes? woke up to a call saying I'm positive but not really info. my head hurts and what I'm reading is terrifying me.
They didn't tell me much when they first called. They just confirmed I didn't pass and set me up with a specialist that explained the next steps, dietician, how to monitor your levels & then did an ultrasound. The ultrasound is mostly to make sure the baby is not getting too big. I was scared and still am but I'm trying to avoid Google as much as possible. I had my last ultrasound last week and she is on the big side so I most likely will be induced at 39 weeks. I am FTM so it's scary as it is, & I think there's a possibility the baby can have low blood sugar at birth but trying to stay positive and not go over my numbers. After a meal(you would check your numbers 2 hours after eating ) your number shouldn't be higher than 120. Also not eating for long period can cause the numbers to be high, so eat every 3 hours snack on something light.
yes I failed both. I'm supposed to wait for a call to take a class and get set up with everything. but they never told me my results or levels. and everything I'm reading is scaring the shit out of me. and they never said anything about extra ultrasounds or anything.
Did you fail both the one hour and the 3 hours? I have GD... They should set you up with a dietician to go over meal suggestions, how to check your blood sugar before meals, and 2 hours after a meal, you will log it into a chart and send it to the dietician weekly. If the numbers are still not controlled you might have meds prescribed. They will also be monitoring your baby's growth, so more ultrasounds than usual. They will also be doing NST. Stay positive, eat healthy & walk if you can. It was rough the first few weeks for me but you will get the hang of it.
