Question for mommies of mixed race babies (particularly Afro-Latina babies, but all are welcome):…

Question for mommies of mixed race babies (particularly Afro-Latina babies, but all are welcome): what products do you find work best for your babies' hair from a young age? My babygirl is African American, Native American, Italian and Irish from me and I have very curly, HELLA thick, but very soft natural hair, her dad is Puerto Rican and has naturally curly, but very dry, very coarse hair when he lets it grow (if he doesn't properly take care of it and you see him though you'd assume he was black or Dominican). Both of us had silky pin straight hair when we were immediately born however so I'm assuming (fingers crossed) that'll be the deal when she's just born, but my hair curled up very fast as a baby, I'm not 100% sure about her dad's hair, but long story short, although I want to try to stay as chemical and heat free as possible with her hair starting very early on, what did you mommies put in your babies hair to maintain it and keep it healthy and manageable and whatnot? And how often would you wash it once they got older? I obviously can't go by the wash it everyday rule when she hits a certain age, and I doubt I'll be able to use everything that I use in my hair on her hair, so I'm a little stuck seeing as she'll be the first Afro-Latino baby on both sides of our families so nobody really gets it 100% and I don't want or need everyone "experimenting" in her hair especially since I've already gotten a shitload of unnecessary comments from my relatives who aren't mixed and those who have zero experience with proper care for mixed hair and stuff and I don't even wanna know what's being said on his side because they're worse than my side. When she's a newborn I'm probably going to stick to headbands and whatnot and call it a day, but that'll only work for so long so I just wanna get an idea of what I'm in for (besides tears on both her end and mine because of how thick and unruly her hair's probably gonna be lol).

My daughter is Puerto Rican Dominican Jamaican Chinese white and Syrian and a whole bunch of other stuff. She has very curly hair but is very dry. I use the cantu kids line on her hair and love it. Before that to get her hair to grow I just got some coconut cream and applied it twice daily.

I have dealt with all my little nieces hair when they were younger. My best advice is to keep it moisturized. Find a light cream...do not use grease bc it will make it comb and just too greasy. How frequently you wash it depends on her hair type. If she has really oily scalp, it needs to be washed a little more. You can even rotate between shampoo and conditioner (co wash it).

I also wash my daughters hair once a week and I use very little Shampoo. And lots of conditioner since she has dry hair.

You can wash her hair as much as you want but not with shampoo maybe wash with shampoo once or twice a week me and my little sister and her twin brother are Afro-Latino and have very curly dry hair so it's best to keep it moisturized, and keep it detangled you can put water and conditioner in a spray bottle to detangle it without buying the detangling spray, they have moisturizing mask that you can use. But mostly at night come her hair and use both or just one of the products and then braid her hair up it'll help keep her curls for the next day

Carols Daughter has a product called moisture milk that's amazing. I only use all natural, organic, sulfate and paraben free products in her hair

Well the honest products have been working on my daughters hair. She's black, Asian and creole.
