it's because the sucking releases a hormone that makes you tired.

i use to doze off too.. felt like baby was sucking the life outta me lol.. but hes a month now and that doesn't happen anymore thank God.. how old is your LO

try tapping baby's jaw or cheek, tickling their feet, or even blowing lightly on their face. my LO is 9 weeks and still dozes off until i meds with her
