***NOT TRYING TO INDUCE LABOR**

***NOT TRYING TO INDUCE LABOR**

I turn 35 weeks tomorrow - at 36 weeks my doctor said he's going to check to see if I'm dilated. Which in turns confuses me - do I let my body do its natural thing (of course) but why check to see if I'm dilated when I have 4 more weeks until I turn 40 weeks. Why not check me when I'm 37-38 or 39 weeks instead of 36 when that's not considered full term.

Am I making sense? Maybe I'm over thinking.

I know mine likes to know what is going on down there which is why he checks BUT you can always deny it

Cervical checks are not necessary in a healthy pregnancy that is not at risk for pre term labor or in need of induction. You can decline checks until labor begins.

@hermommy, @arivera64 I don't care that he checks me, im just confused on why at 36 weeks to see if Im dilating when that's not considered full term, isn't 37 weeks is? And why not check then? I'm probably confusing everyone lol cause I'm sure as hell confused.

My doctor starts checking at 36 weeks cuz there are women who start to dilate that early.

I understand what you mean. 39 weeks is ful term, but at 37 to 42 weeks is when your body could go into labor at any time. I honestly don't know why doctors are checking before 37 weeks. I told my docs already I'm keeping my pants on until i give birth.

@arlogreyson probably to know what he's working with, that's what mines doing but I'm also at risk and they're inducing me soon. But I'd deny it if my pregnancy was healthy they wouldn't check until 37-38 weeks

I'm the total opposite. I had my 37 week appointment 2 days ago & i left wondering why they didn't bring that topic up at all. Usually they'll tell me what theyre doing at the next visit and they didnt say anything. So im guessing they aren't doing a cervical check at 38 weeks either? Idk lol

@floress_j, Weird, you would think your doctor would check since that is considered full term. I was checked last night at LD and I'm still closed, so I guess we'll see if that changes at my 36wk appt. I don't know either. Lol
