They really don't recommend water in the first yr. At this point I'd say about 2 to 3 oz per day at most

No more then 3oz because you don't want it to replace the intake of formula or breast milk.

Yes be very careful giving water soo soon, keep within 3oz a days bc it can hurt him. I can't remember what its called but too much water in infants is very deadly. And they already get the limited amount by what you mix in the formula daily.

@katienkaden, In my opinion, Water isn't going to harm your baby if he loves it an it's a hot day I'd say give him as much as he wants...I started giving my baby water at 3 months starting off with a 3oz bottle he'd only drink about 2oz then as he got to 5M he'd drink the whole thing an still want a little more...Yes water's in the formula but it's mixes with it so he's not drinking water he's drinking milk but if it's hot out an he's thirsty common sense is your gonna give him water so he's not dehydrated not let him die of thirst while everyone drinks water ...but to each his own

My doc said since it so hot to give her water it won't hurt but don't give to much my daughter drinks about 4 oz of water a day
