Random thought/question: obviously you're not supposed to get tattoos or drink (hard liquor at least; I've heard the whole you can have an occasional glass of wine and everything will still be okay thing, not something I would feel comfortable with, but hey to each is own) and all this other stuff while you're pregnant for understandable reasons, but what if you have your baby and are breastfeeding, obviously after a very short time you can go back to drinking even if you plan on breastfeeding, but do you have to wait even longer to get another tattoo if you plan on breastfeeding? (Like wait until you're done). I've been itching for new ink since before I knew I was pregnant and know what I wanna get after Babygirl gets here (nothing overly extravagant that'll need multiple sessions or even lots of hours in one day) but I'm going to breastfeed and I don't wanna go getting a tattoo and then find out or get all excited to get a tattoo then find out that if you're breastfeeding you shouldn't/can't get one.

when I was breastfeeding my daughter I asked my lactation consult that same question and she referred me to a website I think it was called Kellymom I'll double check nd then post the link I can't remember her exact awncer other then making sure the needle is clean etc. but I'll look it up now :)

my tattooist said there shouldn't be an issue. I'm getting ink done soon

Pregnancy puts your body at higher risk for infection and rejection, which is why you can't get piercings or tattoos while pregnant (along with the stress it puts on your body while getting it done and the healing would take forever). However I think once the baby is born, there wouldn't be an issue because your body will be back to normal. Just make sure the place you go to is clean so that you don't end up with something gnarly in your system (HIV, hepatitis, etc)!

@muva.mermaid I know? I was explaining why it's not safe during pregnancy vs why it's okay after pregnancy even if you're breastfeeding.
