So next week my baby will be 11 months!🙊I was thinking of slowing introducing her to cows milk. Like maybe 2 ozs a week. I'm still breastfeeding and will continue until she decides to stop. (well that's the plan for now lol) I'm also still pumping and storing milk.

I've been reading that as long as I'm still BF I really wouldn't need to introduce her to whole milk since breastmilk has all the nutrients she needs. She nurses at least 4-5 times a day (sometimes more if she snacks or needs comfort) along with eating solids. I'm just wondering what other Breastfeeding mama's, with older babies, are doing when it comes to cows milk?

omg m in The same boat but my son is 9 months.... with my daughter i didnt do anything specfic i just. stopped bf And gave her milk... she ended up getting diarrhea for a month till I stopped giving her milk and switch to soy but than soy was making sick too so than all she would have would b pedilre or Gatorade for about two months than I gave her milk again and she than finally was ok now she is 2.5 and drink milk with no issues... so this time with my son I wanted to see if I should introduce milk but the dr said it wasn't the best idea but instead recommend I try formula to help with the switch I call enmfamil and asked for the transaction formula which is 9 month-18 Months and supposedly made especially for babies bf switching to whole milk... I haven't received the formula yet but when I do I'll let u know

@22nadiaw Shes had formula before, and she get it once in awhile, but not often. I was supplementing BC of her weight. I'd add it to the pumped milk and sometimes just giver her just formua. but she's been doing fine without it so I rarely give her any now. She took formula just fine though. She's also had ice cream and was fine! 😅😅 I'm just wondering if she would really need cows milk at all if I'm still BFing. I guess it'd be more for convince if I needed to give it to her.

my husband is also kinda lactose intolerant so we have Lactaid at home, but I was going to try whole milk, if I do introduce her.

I would say keep breast feeding and introduce her to almond milk or soy milk.. Cows milk can be so hard on the tummy and really isn't good for you. Plus unsweetened almond milk and soy milk is closer to breast milk (taste wise) than cows milk so it's easier to transition😊

@mommy_faith I thought about soy or almond milk too. I just figured we drink cows milk more in the house than we do soy or almond and since it would be a gradual thing, I wouldn't want it to go bad either. I don't drink very often, unless it's with cereal or I use it for cooking.

@rosalinasmami, careful with soy. some kids tummies can't handle it. it gave my daughter the worst dirreah ever.
