Midwifes don't recommend co-sleeping due to the risks of suffocation (it's a legality they have to warn you about). However, if you do decide to, ( I did for the first few weeks because we all needed sleep). Baby must always be on mums side only as dads do not have the maternal instincts as much as we would love them too, they just don't, and Can roll over onto baby. no pillows or blankets near her face, find a position that's comfortable for you both, but doesn't restrict her flow of air (eg. As nice as it is sleeping nose to nose, Bub won't get the quality of air needed) .
I slept with her on my side of the bed, either on my arm facing me or on my chest, depending if she was extremely colicky or not. At the end of the day every situation is different and you do whatever is comfortable and safe for yourself and Bub, common sense prevails all. 🙂
I had her next to me but spent most the night laying there with her attached to my boob lol im goin on a breast pump hunt today and I might see how I go n maybe express her night time feeds I mean she is only 2days old but
I never co slept but the midwife said to keep baby next to you, not so much husband as they don't have that maternal instinct we have and can roll on them when sleeping, just make sure she has plenty of room between you and the end of the bed.
