Okay so went to the ER yesterday because of a rash I have had for a week and wanted to get it checked out. I was sent to labor and delivery and checked out.. Well they took my blood pressure and it was 150/110 and climbing. They took my urine and it was plus 1 for protein and I was told they think I may have severe preeclampsia. I was sent home with a 24 hour urine catch but I'm not sure what to expect cause they said if I have a lot of protein in my urine today I'm not allowed to go home and I have to stay there. Any mommies have preeclampsia?! I really need help cause I'm freaking out. I have had severe headaches, vision loss changes and I see spots, I am very short of breathe when I stand up, and have severe pain in my right ribs under my breast. Is this a big sign I have bad preeclampsia?!? I know nothing about this stuff and I'm floored that I have it.

I had high blood pressure too and plus 4 proteins in my pee, they inducted me because of it

Yes ma'am those are definite signs of preeclampsia. Its a very serious medical condition that threatens you and you're unborn child. It left untreated it can turn into eclampsia which can cause seizure's and or a stroke. I had it with my daughter. I had to be put on mag, which helps stop contractions or helps keep your BP under control. Preeclampsia can also cause premature labor. @tater4414

I'm already on watch for premature labor. How common is it to have lots of protein in urine after a 24 hour urine catch? Should I pack a hospital bag to go with me today? @kbrown91

Yes it's bad! U shouldn't have any! You need to talk to ur doctors and if u have it start getting treatment. It can hurt u and ur baby @tater4414

with your bp that high, and you've already had protein in one, you'll probably have it in this one too. yes pack a bag. @tater4414

I learned a little about it at the hospital but I'm not sure how bad plus 1 is. I'm scared they will make me deliver early. @klarrissab @leda.patterson32115

Well they caught it, so they should be able to manage it. I'm sure you and baby will be fine. They didn't catch my sisters until the last minute like 3 weeks before her due date and her baby was in distress and they had to induce that day. But baby was fine and healthy. It's really dangerous if it goes undiagnosed.

@tater4414, you shouldn't have any protein on your urine at all. They'll keep you in the hospital to control it, and if they can't they may induce you. This second urine test is basically to see how much more protein is in your urine, or if its the same

Well its not something to be taken lightly, its very serious. my BP was 200/110 when I delivered. I will never forget that feeling. @tater4414

Another thing preeclampsia is jus something that has no definite cause, you can be fine one day and then the next day preeclampsia shows up. if you're admitted they'll put u on the medicine and a low sodium diet, bc of course salt can raise your BP, and monitor you closely ! You'll be fine, but definitely needs actions right away. @tater4414
