well I officially feel like a horrible mother.... we had our dog neutered yesterday, hoping it would mellow him out and he would stop herding our son. last night and most of the morning he was fine. then I am getting ready to go to the store, and I sternly (didn't yell ornscream) told my son to come to the chair to get his shoes on to leave. before I could even react the dog ran up behind him and grabbed his leg. I got the dog away and in his cage and got my son on the chair, he was bleeding really badly so I wrapped a towel around his leg and called my husband. we rushed to the er. he had to get a stitch in each puncture hole (well 3 of the 4) and had to get a tetanus shot of some sort.... 4 hours later we were on our way home.... my poor son will cry in his sleep (he says " ow ow ow hurts" or "no no my (i) don't want it") it absolutely breaks my heart that this happened, I should have put the dog away before I tried to get my son's shoes on.... I want to cry,but I don't want to in front of my son.... I feel absolutely horrible 😦😭😭😭😭

My aunt and uncle's dog used to do the same thing then they brought him to training and the guy was able to get him to stop with the dog Wednesday with a man for two weeks and then came home

Yeah he would get so excited he would bite and hump luckily he never broke skin The only thing about it and this is the part I didn't agree with they use the shock collar for the first year then after that they stopped we did find long walks like two to four miles twice a day they never had to use the collar

we were originally going to, however we don't want him to end up biting again so we may have to have him put down.... it was a bad bite his other teeth made indents between the puncture wounds @lalamichelle0707

he us a blue heeler, which its in his breed to herd but this was too much, he only nipped at him before this was much much worse @crunchymomma

yeah cattle dogs are like that. your vet should have warned you to keep your dog crated and avoid exciting him in anyway after getting fixed. that's a major and sometimes traumatic surgery. it's COMPLETELY normal the way your dog acted. not excusable, but normal.
it's just like if you got your ovaries removed, you hormones are thrown way off balance and you act crazy if your not on estrogen pills. it's the same for dogs, even males. your vet should have explained that he needs a calm healing/adjustment period before being reintroduced to everything. I'm sorry that happen :(

they only told us not to let him run or bite at the stitches... if I would have been thinking I would have put him in his cage before trying to get my son ready to go @crunchymomma
